Inhaling a meal in five minutes, racing through a movie in ten, letting music fill the steam of a rushed shower, cramming vocabulary into the spaces between bus stops, eyes glued to a glowing screen while the world passes by unnoticed, snatching glances at videos even as you eat...In short, everything has to be fast, as if time must frantically overlap to be enough. "Speed playback" was originally a way to efficiently watch videos online, but now in our fast-paced world, it has become a way of life.

In this age of relentless efficiency and ever-present anxiety, have you already hit "speed playback" on your own life?

In our fast-forward world, food is no longer judged by taste or quality, but by how quickly it arrives. People once travelled long distances for a memorable meal—now, the only question is how fast it can be consumed. A TV show that used to release two episodes a day has become a blur of back-to-back seasons devourable in a single sitting. Ads too long? Buy a membership. Plot dragging? Speed it up.

When we focus only on chasing life, life slips away from us.

A survey by “China Youth Daily” found that 83.1% of respondents admit to feeling busy every day. We fear being left behind by the times, left behind by our peers, so to make the most out of limited time, we treat every choice as an investment aimed at maximum return. We complete our self-set goals more efficiently, but in doing so, we miss some of life’s scenery along the way.

Slow down and take your time to appreciate.

In this exhibition, the artist guides us into a "1x speed" landscape—a space where time lingers, and the senses reawaken. Birdsong mingles with the rustle of leaves, each breeze whispering as it dances off a cluster of tall stones. A gentle fragrance suddenly drifts in—a blend of wood, leaves, blossoms, and fruit. Drawn by this invisible current, we arrive at the base of an ancient tree. A soft 432 Hz tone resonates as sunlight filters through the stones, illuminating patches of glowing moss, grasses, and ferns swaying in the breeze. Standing beneath the tree’s expansive canopy, we feel it’s quiet strength; the trunk and branches stand resilient, gracefully enduring the blazing sun and sudden downpours. In their stillness, they exude the essence of nature, quietly infusing us with a deep, endless vitality.

In Alaska, Michio Hoshino frequently witnessed spruce trees along the riverbanks gradually eroding and collapsing into the water, swept away by the current. These rugged, chaotic landscapes led him to realize that everything is in constant motion, moving at its own natural pace—advancing at "1x speed."

In this exhibition, artist Deep Sea’s botanical works evoke not only the vibrant beauty of fresh blooms but also the poignant moments of decay, fracture, and shedding. Each piece captures the delicate interplay of life and death, where the laws of nature unfold in a continuous cycle before our eyes. It is through witnessing this intricate dance time and again that we begin to understand Michio Hoshino’s insight: "Perhaps everything in the world is on a journey." In life, relationships end, and lives leave in one form or another—yet they seem to persist in other ways, becoming nourishment, memories, or places deep within the heart. Perhaps there is no real departure or decay; life simply flows on, journeying with no final destination.

In a "1x speed" landscape, humans and nature share an equilibrium to converse calmly, quietly, and sincerely.
