颜程, 作为80年代末90年代初中国经济转型时期的一代人,成长在那个时代的城市文化背景中。中国经济尚未全面腾飞,西方流行文化逐渐渗透,尤其对年轻一代产生了深远的影响。在这一多元文化的冲击下,许多人对西方文化表现出强烈的兴趣,形成了“崇洋媚外”的现象。颜程便是这一潮流文化的早期关注者之一,他通过自己的设计和创作,与这一文化现象深刻互动,成为潮流艺术的先锋。
Yan Cheng (RUN), as part of the generation born during China’s economic transition in the late 1980s and early 1990s, grew up amidst the urban cultural backdrop of that era. During this time, China had yet to fully experience its economic boom, while Western popular culture began to seep in, profoundly influencing the younger generation. Under this wave of cultural collision, many exhibited a strong fascination with Western culture, giving rise to a phenomenon of “blind admiration for the West.” Yan Cheng was one of the early enthusiasts of this trend, engaging deeply with it through his designs and creations, ultimately becoming a pioneer in trend art.
本次展览分为两个部分,分别代表了颜程创作生涯里的“幻想”和“现实”。
This exhibition is divided into two sections, representing the “Fantasy” and “Reality” phases of Yan Cheng’s creative journey.
在“幻想”部分,颜程创造了名为“Runrun”的小男孩形象,象征着他自己童年时期的天真与理想主义。Runrun 的眼睛中闪烁着彩虹光芒,代表多元文化的融合。在这个故事中,Runrun的幻想世界与现实交融,诞生了名为“Runtoto”的虚拟生物,二者在心灵上相互连接,形成永恒的共生关系。通过这系列作品,不仅反映了艺术家自身对西方流行文化的反思,还探讨了全球化背景下,消费文化对年轻一代的影响,尤其是普遍存在的“消费主义梦幻”现象。
Fantasy
In the “Fantasy” section, Yan Cheng introduces the character “Runrun,” a young boy symbolizing the innocence and idealism of his childhood. Runrun’s eyes shimmer with rainbow hues, representing the fusion of diverse cultures. Within this narrative, Runrun’s fantasy world intertwines with reality, giving birth to a virtual creature named “Runtoto.” These two beings share a profound spiritual connection, forming an eternal symbiosis. Through this series of works, Yan not only reflects on his own experiences with Western popular culture but also examines the impact of consumer culture on the younger generation in a globalized world, particularly the pervasive phenomenon of the “consumerist dream.”
而“现实”部分,则是展出真实世界里的日常与联名商品,以及艺术家藉流行品牌的商业联名进行对于流行和消费文化的逐渐祛魅的过程。颜程根据自身经历创作出一个被社会敲打而脑门凹陷,同时长出“心眼”的三眼笑脸符号,经常将这个符号与各种流行、经典文化进行融合创作。现实区域里的跑哥,他的艺术不仅是视觉享受,也是他对当下社会各种现实的深刻反思。他的作品常涉及个人身份、文化差异和社会变迁等主题,通过艺术的形式来探讨现代社会中个体的位置与角色扮演。
Reality
The “Reality” section, in contrast, showcases elements of real-world daily life, collaborative products, and Yan’s process of gradually demystifying the allure of consumer and trend culture through commercial brand collaborations. Yan created a symbolic “three-eyed smiley face,” representing an individual hammered by societal pressures, with a dented forehead and a “third eye” of insight. He frequently incorporates this symbol into works that merge popular and classic cultural elements.
In the reality-focused part of the exhibition, “Paoge” (as Yan is affectionately called) reveals not only visually captivating works but also his deep reflections on contemporary society. His art often explores themes of personal identity, cultural differences, and social transformation, using artistic expression to examine the role and position of individuals within modern society.
This dual narrative of “Fantasy” and “Reality” offers viewers a comprehensive exploration of Yan Cheng’s unique artistic perspective and his engagement with culture, consumerism, and identity.

⼤学时期便开始街头涂鸦的创作,2010年起投身潮流⽂化产业。从媒体编辑、设计师到产品经理,在职期间创造了迄今为⽌国内最⼤的联名项⽬,后帮助多家商业品牌推动潮流化。2020年从幕后⾛向台前,创⽴⾃主实验性品牌并投身艺术创作。
⾸次创作的两组作品通过上海嘉⽲20周年秋季拍卖会,被藏家收藏。
于2021年担任“CHINA JOY 20周年艺术家活动⾸席艺术家”、“得物POIZON CON⾸届潮流嘉年华创意艺术总监”、“T&ART CON上海潮流艺术博览会2024艺术总监”。并于多个国际品牌推出联名商品。
Run,Artist/Designer
Run began creating street graffiti during university and immersed himself in the street culture industry starting in 2010. He has held various roles, from media editor and designer to product manager, during which he spearheaded the largest collaborative project in China to date. He later assisted multiple commercial brands in embracing street culture.
In 2020, he stepped from behind the scenes to the forefront, establishing an independent experimental brand and dedicating himself to art creation. His debut works were featured and collected at the Shanghai JIAHE 20th Anniversary Autumn Auction.
In 2021, Yan served as the “Chief Artist” for the CHINA JOY 20th Anniversary Artist Event, the “Creative Art Director” for the inaugural DEWU POIZON CON Trend Carnival, and the “Art Director” for the T&ART CON Shanghai Trend Art Expo 2024. He has also launched collaborative products with multiple international brands.

Victoria Lu
Born in Taipei in 1951, Lu Rongzhi currently lives and works in Hangzhou. She is recognized as the first female curator and art critic of Chinese descent. She has held prestigious positions such as the Creative Director of the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art and the Artistic Director of Bund 18 Creative Center in Shanghai.
