BLANKgallery上海空间欣然呈现艺术家赵新宇在画廊的首次个人展览。展览将呈现艺术家2024年创作的13件新作品，于8月31日开幕持续至9月28日。
新系列作品凝练了赵新宇一直以来在创作中关注的话题和绘画语言，将成熟的绘画能力，对视觉极其敏锐的捕捉和当代的生活体验相结合，逐渐形成了画面上独特的美学体验。画面中用本能识别出温暖和感性的场景被艺术家刻意打断，通过元素的并置在保护本能舒适感的同时创造出不何乎常理的视觉冲突，使画面呈现出共生并存的视觉张力。
关注某个“时刻”是新作品中尤其重要的场景，这些时刻里，反复出现的一些被认定“美”或者极具“诱惑力“的元素：甜品、玫瑰、自然的景、以及——昆虫作为极具揭示和效应的代表符号之一。通过艺术家第一性的观察力，这些元素的局部外表被理性分析和提取，将其中对于几何的认知类比工业秩序和特征，剖析这些生活间被定义的“柔” 在某些纬度蕴含锋利和冷酷，最终在画面上形成一种艺术家所构建的系统。
这种柔性与锋利之间的交替共存不仅体现在画面的概念层面，也贯穿在创作的过程。艺术家有特点地对于喷枪工具的使用，不是直接发挥其固有的创作功能，而是被柔软使用，参与创作的绘画性，最终配合画笔创造出均匀的氛围感。另一方面材料的使用，毛毡与画布拼贴，让画面的质感进一步配合创作，放大观众对于局部感知的“嗅觉”。
赵新宇的绘画映射出心理、自然和系统的关系、信息的过滤以及与当代审美的互动，探讨科技对于人潜意识无时无刻的紧密影响，信息的高速让很多无法相通的领域变得可以轻易地连结，人的原始意志不断被模糊，表象皮囊之下萌生异样的新系统，作为时代的产物和不可避免的生活体验。

BLANKgallery is delighted to present Zhao Xinyu’s first solo exhibition at the Shanghai space. The exhibition will showcase 13 recent paintings from the artist, opens on August 31 and runs to September 28.
This new series encapsulates the themes and visual language that Zhao Xinyu has honed throughout his artistic journey. By blending refined painting techniques with a sharp visual sensibility and insights into contemporary life experience, the artist has crafted a distinctive aesthetic experience. The scenes on the canvas, which are initially perceived as warm and sensual, are intentionally disrupted by the artist. Through the juxtaposition of contrasting elements, Zhao creates a visual dissonance that maintains an underlying sense of comfort while introducing a symbiotic tension.
A focus on capturing specific "moments" plays a crucial role in this new body of work. These moments are marked by the recurring appearance of elements considered "beautiful" or highly "tempting": desserts, roses, natural landscapes, and insects—used as a symbol of revealing something. Zhao Xinyu employs a first-principle approach to observe and analyze these elements, dissecting their partial appearances through the lens of geometry in comparison to industrial order. The artist suggests that the "softness" we perceive in life often contains sharpness and coldness within certain dimensions, a duality that is intricately woven into the fabric of his work.
This interplay between softness and sharpness is not only a conceptual focus but also a defining characteristic of Zhao’s creative process. The artist’s unique use of airbrush tools diverges from their conventional application, instead, employing them in a gentle manner that integrates with the painterly aspects of his work, ultimately blending with brushstrokes to create a cohesive atmosphere. Additionally, the use of materials such as integrated felt in canvas collages adds texture, enhancing the audience's sensory experience of the artwork.
Zhao Xinyu's paintings delve into the intricate relationships between psychology, nature, and systems, exploring how information is filtered and interacts with contemporary aesthetics. His work reflects on the pervasive influence of technology on the subconscious, illustrating how rapid information exchange connects disparate fields and blurs original intent, leading to the emergence of new, complex systems as both a product and a reflection of our time.
